Poetry Open Mic

Blessed, here are some snaps from the last poetry open mic session. Since the closure of Cafe Khwest in the Main Mall, the sessions have been moved to United Cafe 3. At first I was doubtful about the change in venue but United Cafe actually lends itself better to poetry than one might expect. Most of the venue is outdoors and the set-up and sound was top notch. Also I think one of the biggest changes was the audience. Khwest used to have a lot of people who were not really there for the poetry, whereas at United, every person there had come to listen. The difference it makes is huge! Poets did not have to speak over the chatter of a distracted audience, and there were no waiters constantly walking up and down. All in all I think it has been a great improvement for poetry in Gaborone. Looking forward to the next one!
