My apologies! I know it has been quite a while since my last post. Allow me to fill you in on what's been happening for the last couple of months.
1. I moved from Gaborone to Cape Town, South Africa.
And
2. I started studying Brand Building and Management at Vega, one of the leading Branding schools in South Africa.
This has been a pretty big, exciting change and it had taken me a while to find my feet, get registered and settled at school, find and move into a new place and most importantly, sort out my internet! But finally, here we are :)
Today's post is on the 2014 Cape Town Art Fair which took place from the 27th of February to the 2nd of March at the Pavillion Conference Centre, V&A Waterfront.
At the Art Fair galleries from all around Cape Town share their best works with the public. Works ranged from the highly conceptual, through painting and sculpture to bring together images and ideas about everything under the sun.
The sculpture ranged from surreal to incredibly detailed and just plain weird, they explore characters and ideas by lending them a physical presence.
The paintings also displayed a large variety of texture and techniques.
Some, like artist Caryn Srimgeour shows her skill and finesse at the tricks of the eye in her pieces.
Others explore portraits in a variety of styles and mediums.
Some artists used found objects and illustrations to convey their ideas.
All in all it was a highly sensual and almost overwhelming experience which has left me with plenty to chew on.
